Dordrecht and region

Het Herenhuis is the ideal spot to explore Dordrecht, Rotterdam and the National Park De Biesbosch. We have all the information you need to organise your trip and love to share our secret tips. In front of the house is paid parking but just a ten minutes walk further down the road and you can park for free at the other side of the railway.

With 800 years of city-rights Dordrecht is Hollands oldest city and according to a recent article in The Times ‘a hidden pearl’. The city lies between the National Park De Biesbosch and Rotterdam (just 12 train-minutes).

Discover while strolling the old streets and harbours of the historic city. Visit the Dordrecht Museum where a beautiful collection of old paintings (Rembrandt, Albert Cuyp) is exhibited next to a surprising modern art collection. Experience the old times as you visit the mansion of the family Van Gijn where every room is decorated just as it was centuries ago. And if you are fit enough climb the leaning tower of the Big Church where you enjoy a beautiful view.

From the quay where the 3 big rivers connect you can take the ferry to Kinderdijk (windmills), De Biesbosch (national park) or Rotterdam.
